Drones may help protect NC beaches with no lifeguards

OAK ISLAND, N.C. (AP) — Sylvia Blough by no means thought she’d be so pleased to have a surveillance drone overhead.

“At first I assumed ‘what’s the world coming to?’” Blough stated. “But then I assumed, properly, this can be a nice solution to know you’re being protected.”

Blough, a Charlotte resident, stated she was vacationing in Oak Island final month when she obtained an e mail from her rental firm informing her that she might be contacted through drone if she’s trouncing by the dunes.
