Douglas County Sheriff’s office provides details on drone program; drone has been deployed 46 times so far

Sheriff Jay Armbrister says he realizes the thought of a regulation enforcement company working a drone over the skies of Douglas County might make folks uncomfortable, and he says that’s why the sheriff’s workplace is making an attempt to be upfront about its drone program and the way it’s getting used.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office started this system in December and has since used the drone 46 instances, together with to assist catch a fleeing suspect, doc the scenes of visitors accidents and support in fire-fighting technique, Armbrister stated. He instructed the Journal-World that his workplace is aware of the general public can view a drone as extraordinarily intrusive and a potential violation of privateness, however that’s not what this system is about.

“That’s why we’re displaying what we use it for and the way we use it,” Armbrister stated. “This manner we may be upfront and clear so we are able to hopefully quell any worries the general public might have.”
